Board of Directors

The Board of Moyne Health Services consists of independent non-executive directors from a range of backgrounds and with local ties to the local community. Board directors are appointed to the Board by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Health.

Karen Foster

Board Chair

Appointed: 1 July 2014
Term Expires: 30 June 2023

Karen is an experienced Board director and business owner. A former Journalist, she has operated her communications and management consultancy for almost 15 years and has a professional interest in ensuring transparent and honest communication.

Karen is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and holds Board Directorships on the Western Victoria Primary Health Network and Leadership Great South Coast, for which she is currently Chair. She also coordinates the South West Emerging Leaders program and is a mentor and coach.

She has lived in Port Fairy and surrounds for more than 25 years and is an active member of her community.

Alistair McCosh

Deputy Board Chair

Alistair has a rich and varied career in the education sector, having worked across all tiers of education and training in a career spanning more than 30 years.

He began his career as a secondary school teacher in Australia and overseas before moving to the TAFE and university sectors. Alistair is the current Director of Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus. In addition, he is a Director on the Board of Beyond the Bell and Deputy Chair of the Great South Coast Food and Fibre Council.

Alistair is an active member of the Koroit community where he has fulfilled several roles, including Koroit Football Netball Club President and St Patrick’s Primary School Chair.

Sophie O’Keeffe

Junior Deputy Board Chair

Term Expires: 30 June 2023

Sophie, who was born in Port Fairy, commenced her Nursing career at Melbourne’s Peter MacCullum Cancer Centre. Since that time, she has worked overseas and in remote parts of Australia. She returned to the south west in 2016 to take on a position as Nursing Lecturer at Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus.

Sophie’s qualifications include Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Certificate of Cancer and Palliative Care Nursing, Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is currently studying a Master of Education (Leadership and Management) and has a particular interest in rural health research.

Sophie is an active community volunteer for a range of community groups and organisations, including Standing Tall and the south West Emerging Leaders program.

Julieanne Crow

Director

A Registered Nurse, Julieanne has been employed in senior executive management positions throughout her 32-year health career. She has extensive experience in developing innovative programs working with diverse stakeholders to develop solutions that work.

Julieanne grew up on a local farm in the Moyne Shire whose family connection still exists today, and sees her Moyne Health Director role as a privilege and honor to work collectively at the local level to govern the provision of safe, high quality primary healthcare to people who access Moyne Health services on offer.

Julieanne currently works as an Executive Director of Primary Healthcare and Clinical Services at Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative overseeing primary health care and social community programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients throughout the South West Victoria who access services.

Julieanne joined Moyne Health in an interim role as the Primary Health Care Manager to cover long service leave, taking on the OH&S Officer position for a short time before successfully being appointed as a Director to the Moyne Health Board in 2016.

Dr David Leembruggen

Director

Appointed: 1 July 2017
Terms Expires: 30 June 2023

David recently retired from a distinguished career in General Practice in Horsham and, more latterly, in Warrnambool. He is able to exercise his personal interest in Clinical Risk Management as Chair or Moyne Health’s Quality and Safety committee.

David’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery and he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of GPs and Fellow of the Australian Medical Association.

A Port Fairy resident, David is a keen golfer and active volunteer and community member.

Lucy Doherty

Director

Lucy is a Senior Family Lawyer with Dwyer Legal in Warrnambool where she lives with her young family.

Lucy has previously held volunteer positions with the Koroit and District Kindergarten and Western District Law Association. She is also a student mentor for Victorian Women’s Lawyers.

Brian Densem

Director

Brian is an experienced governance professional of some 30 years. He has worked as a professional internal auditor for large Australian corporates, leading internal audit functions for the past 25 years.

Brian is also a member of three local government and one local statutory body Audit and Risk Committees, three of which he Chairs.

He has had exposure to a number of industries including banking, funds management, financial advice, insurance, retirement living, aged care in-home care and local government.

Brian is a CPA and Professional Fellow of the institute of Internal Auditors, Australia. He has lived in Killarney since moving from Melbourne in 2012.

Trevor Carr

Director

Trevor is an electrical engineer who has worked in consulting engineering and manufacturing roles in south west Victoria over the past decade. He is currently employed as a high voltage electrical engineer for Alcoa at its Portland site.

Trevor has honed his skills in asset management, project management, capital planning, strategic planning and regulatory compliance and relishes opportunities to promote long-term solutions to short-term problems.

A proud alumni of the Leadership Great South Coast program, Trevor is a former member of the Port Fairy Winter Weekends Committee. He is married with two young children, enjoys the outdoors with his family and is only ‘mildly obsessed’ with golf.

Jennie Stinson

Director

A finance professional with 20 years’ experience in senior roles, Jennie has worked across a range of industries. She has particular expertise in health.

Jennie’s professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Business and a Masters in Business Administration. She is a Certified Practising Accountant. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is currently completing the Company Directors course.

Home for Jennie is 20 acres with views across Discovery Bay and Mount Richmond in the Portland region. She shares her home with her partner, dogs, alpacas, chickens and Wiltipoll sheep.

David Knight

Director

David is a Senior Advisor who has worked across senior management roles at Lyndoch Living, Royal Freemasons Homes and Eventide Lutheran Homes. This extensive operational experience brings a unique perspective to his current advisory work with Leading Healthcare, ensuring a deep understanding of the challenges facing the aged care, home care and seniors living industries.

David is a Certified Practicing Accountant with a Bachelor of Business and MBA. He is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

In his spare time, David is actively involved with both Hamilton cricket and football clubs as a junior coach and committee member. He is also President of the St Mary’s Primary School Advisory Council.
