Call to help steer Health

Members of the community are being sought by Moyne Health Services (MHS) to help drive the future direction of the organisation.

A call has gone out for residents in Port Fairy and Koroit to nominate for a position on MHS consumer engagement committee. MHS Executive Director quality, safety, risk and information management Luise Grisdale said the committee will play a key role going forward.

“The role will comprise of representation of the community by making consumer perspectives known and assist in the monitoring and development of consumer participation across Moyne Health Services,” Ms Grisdale said.

“We are seeking to strengthen and enhance our panel of consumer’s voices who undertake a vital role in the implementation and provision of direction in the MHS consumer engagement committee strategic goals. The consumer representatives will assist in the improvement of patient outcomes through valuable input into the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of services across MHS.”

These improves outcomes will be measured across of a range of measures including quality, efficiency, effectiveness and safety of services.”

Ms Grisdale said the chosen community members would join representatives from the town’s doctors, the MHS board and executive team and residents of Moyneyana and Belfast houses on the committee.

She said the consumer engagement committee would generate a sense of ownership, empowerment and responsibility for consumers’ own health and care.”

“It is important we hear from our consumers, about what they think is needed,” she said.

“We provide the health service but we want feedback about what is important to the people who use it.”
