$4.5 million blueprint for Community Health Centre

Premier Dr Dennis Napthine, Board President Ralph Leutton and Chief Executive Officer, David Lee.

MHS has unveiled a strategy to construct a new Community Health Centre in Villiers Street, Port Fairy. MHS board president, Ralph Leutton and chief executive officer, David Lee recently briefed Premier Dennis Napthine on the proposed three storey facility.

Mr Leutton said that MHS would apply for $3.0 million in next month’s infrastructure funding round and seek to raise the remaining $1.5 million locally.

He said the new community health centre was the first stage of a master plan that had taken three years to develop. Mr Leutton said, “there is a trend for growth in community health services and MHS plans to be at the forefront”.

The Community Health Centre will be constructed on the same site as the current centre and include a below ground staff car park. The ground level will feature consulting rooms including podiatry, physiotherapy, health promotion and district nursing and a gymnasium.
