Volunteering Day Celebration
Moyne Health Services celebrated this year’s event in style with a “river-side” lunch to acknowledge the important contribution of our special volunteers.
MHS has 170 volunteers working in various programs including Meals On Wheels, Lighthouse Lounge, Koroit Planned Activity Group, Connect U patient transport, Moyneyana House and Belfast House. Our volunteers donate their time, skills, energy and care to increasing the quality of life of our residents and community clients.
In true spirit of this year’s motto from Volunteering Australia “Give Happy, Live Happy” the message of happiness and kindness is spread throughout Moyne Health Services by the dedication and warmth of our volunteer team. We thank you, and could not provide such excellent services without you.
The lunch was hosted at Wishart’s on the Wharf, with local fare on the menu – Salt and Pepper Calamari, tasty burger “sliders” and novelty boxes of local fish and chips. Some executive staff were in attendance, and our volunteers were officially recognised and thanked by CEO David Lee, and Volunteers Support Lisa de Kok.
The guest speaker Roger Cussen highlighted the value of volunteering to the community spirit – and recounted his story of volunteering with Rotary, and their memorial dedicated to local service men that developed from a small volunteering capacity – to a major community development and successful outcome.
Special volunteers were acknowledged – Patricia Browne who this year retires from volunteering, and also Kevin Spencer was presented with the MHS Employee/Volunteer of the month award for his tireless efforts in volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
