Moyne Health Services unveils its plans for a new Urgent Care Centre

L to R: Ralph Leutton, President Board of Management Moyne Health Services; James Purcell, Member of the Legislative Council and David Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Moyne Health Services.

Recently Ralph Leutton and David Lee met with James Purcell, Member of the Legislative Council to discuss Moyne Health Services plans to construct an Urgent Care Centre. In the coming years, Moyne Health Services hopes to construct an Urgent Care Centre on the corner of Regent and Villiers Streets, Port Fairy including plans to collocate with Ambulance Victoria.
Ralph Leutton said, “that the Urgent Care Centre is Stage 1B of our Master Plan and is integral to the long term sustainability of the health service. As a small rural health service we play a vital role in the health care system.”

Mr Leutton explained that “The Urgent Care Centre will be integrated into Belfast House Nursing Home and the Northern end of the Hospital and will include X-ray facilities, a treatment room and waiting area, an ambulance and pedestrian entry.”

David Lee said, “we expect the proposed construction to cost about $2.1 million and there could be significant synergies in leveraging on our construction of the Community Health Centre.”

State Member for Western Victoria James Purcell said the $2.1 million Urgent Care Facility project was worthy of Government support. “Moyne Health Services is a key health provider to Port Fairy and surrounds and this upgrade is critical to ensuring continued excellent service provision,” Mr Purcell said.

“This project will immediately address the current structural and functional building risks in connection with nursing staff having to walk from the hospital to the other end of the building to attend Urgent Care clients. This will significantly improve patient care outcomes.”
